Faced with the challenge of protecting young trees from sheep, wallabies and kangaroos we set about designing a flexible tree guard. Being flexible means the trees can develop their natural stability and sheep don't rub on the guard as it provides no resistance. If kangaroos knock it, it just bounces back up straight.

After 25 years of trialling various options, we have settled on using a fibreglass post (either 10 or 8mm thick) and a 1.2m long tube fixed with 3 cable ties (200mm black ties).
The 10mm thick post is recommended for windy sites or where grazing pressure is higher (some sheep have learnt to push over the thinner post).
It works for us and it might work for you.
Have a look at this video to see if this might solve your problems or allow you to graze under your young trees.
