We have an undercut area that requires some fillet machining.

With 3x machining this is not possible

So we will need to tilt the tool.

Using Tilt Curve is a great way to fully control the behaviour of the tool and it tends to provide better control as well as Surface results. As the contact point is more consistent.
With the Tilt Curve strategy - Closest to point - With this method the tool stays pointed to the geometry curve we selected at all times.

REMEMBER -
The shorter the line - The greater the Tilt.
The longer the line - the less the tool will Tilt.

This can have a huge impact on the tool's behaviour.

When using wireframe geometry in controlling the motion of the tool is a very simple and effective way for 5-axis programming and you can easily predict the outcome. On top of that it is easy to edit this area of method in 5-axis.

EDGECAM is a world-leading CAM solution for CNC machine tools like DMG MORI, DOOSAN, MAZAK, HELLER, HEDELIUS, ANAYAK, CORREA, HAAS, HYUNDAI, HURCO, KITAMURA, ZIMMERMAN, WFL, ZAYER, TAKUMI ...etc.
Proud creator of WAVEFORM high-end highspeed machining technique.
It drives from 2-axis turning machines to complex 5-axis, 6-axis or Mill-Turn machines.
Lathe, milling or Wire EDM machines in our DNA. B-axis turning, simultaneous 5-axis machining, digital twins, on machine probing or inspection are just some of our capabilities to support Industry 4.0.
