Ixtapa (oficialmente Ixtapa Zihuatanejo) (en náhuatl: Iztal, pa, ‘sal o blanco, en’‘Lugar blanco’)? es un resort de playa localizado en el municipio de Zihuatanejo de Azueta, en el estado mexicano de Guerrero. Se encuentra a 5 km (3,1 millas) al noroeste de la cabecera municipal, Zihuatanejo, y algunos 245 km (152 millas) al noroeste de Acapulco, en la región Costa Grande del estado.

Ixtapa es un complejo turístico planificado por el Fondo Nacional de Fomento al Turismo en 1968 con el fondo especial otorgado por el Banco de México para la creación de nuevos destinos turísticos en las costas del país, debido al incremento en visitantes y viendo el gobierno federal la necesidad de crear una oferta hotelera de lujo y más amplia su construcción empezó en 1970 e inició operaciones formalmente en 1974. Fue edificado sobre lo que en alguna época era un plantío de cocos. Se desarrolló como un centro turístico con exclusivos hoteles, villas de lujo y resorts de cadenas internacionales, siendo un contraste con el puerto pesquero de Zihuatanejo que se encuentra a solo 5 km de distancia. Actualmente es uno de los principales destinos turísticos de México, recibiendo en promedio a un poco más de 2 millones de turistas anualmente.

Se ha confundido el término Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo pensando que es una única ciudad, pero en realidad es su nombre oficial, no teniendo nada que ver con la cabecera municipal que es Zihuatanejo. En el censo de 2010 del Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía, la población de Ixtapa era 8,992. Ixtapa pertenece a la zona turística Triángulo del Sol del estado, junto con Acapulco, Taxco y Zihuatanejo.
