This restoration of a twotone gold and steel Rolex watch was always going to be difficult. Water got into the watch during a period when the owner was unable to get any assistance. So the water just stayed there and the corrosion started to eat away at some key expensive Rolex watch components. By the time the watch came to me there was genuine doubt that the watch could be economically saved.
The Limited Edition Datejust dial side of the Rolex 2135 movement was most effected by the water ingress and the restoration of the dial itself posed a real challenge and required the lightest of touches to achieve sympathetically.
I do not talk much in this video leaving the action, mostly, to tell the story of the restoration.
