Going vegan may not just improve your health. It could also improve your financial bottom line.

A study finds that eating an exclusively plant-based diet saved shoppers 16% on their grocery bill or roughly $500 per year, according to a study by Dr. Hana Kahleova.

She joins "The Weight Loss Champion" on The Exam Room Podcast with the surprising results. While shoppers obviously spent more on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, the expense was more than offset by the savings from no longer purchasing eggs, meat, and dairy which tend to be higher priced items.

If you think eating a plant-based diet is too expensive, this study shows it's time to think again.
