Trading up in the draft always comes with a lot of risk, but sometimes the reward is extraordinary. Just ask Jerry Rice and Patrick Mahomes: they’re just two of the many stars that teams had to trade up to acquire.

Then there’s the flip side, where teams can set themselves back many years if they completely botch a “trade-up” situation at the draft.
