This has always been a very moving song for me. During the isolation times of COVID I decided to interpret this song visually and musically, essentially on my own. Gratitude to #SteveHackett and Genesis for this and all of their wonderful music.

Guitarist Steve Hackett has been one of my favorite guitarists for many years. A sensitive player with a fondness for intricate harmonies and lovely melodies, Hackett is known for his affinity for classical guitar, a rarity among players known in the rock world. Blood on the Rooftops is arguably Hackett's best contribution during his time with Genesis. I can think of no other song in the rock genre that features classical style guitar playing more than this one.

The setting is an English home in the 1970's. An adult son goes to visit his parents during the holidays and finds that although they lived through WWII, they really don't want to face contemporary issues of the world. With dreary winter weather and ready entertainment on TV, they find easy escape into movies, reruns and sports.....until the news comes on to disturb their peace.

If you're interested in the process making the video and music, you can search #OneSallyBand on facebook and read my series of explanatory posts.

For the musicians interested, i played Classical guitar by Ignacio Rozas, Acoustic guitar by Gerald Sheppard, Piano - Yamaha C7 grand, PDP Drums, Arturia Mellotron V with an Infinite Response Vax77 keyboard, Bass by Skjold Design.
