Sun Moon Lake is located in Taiwan’s Yuchi Township, Nantou County. Lalu Island in the middle of the lake separates the lake into a part shaped like a crescent moon and another part shaped like a round sun. We decided to take a bicycle ride around the lake and find the best things to see and do around Sun Moon Lake in a day.Here is our list of the top 7 things to see and do around Sun Moon Lake in a day:



1. Rent a Bicycle and ride the scenic Sun moon lake circular walk/ride - 日月潭環湖步道
2. Visit the Xiangshan Visitor Centre - 向山行政暨遊客中心
3. Enjoy the view from Xuanguang Temple - 玄光寺
4. Climb to the top of the Ci'en Pagoda - 慈恩塔

5. Enjoy a complimentary tea at the Xuanzang Temple - 玄奘寺
6. Have a waterfront street market lunch at Yidashao Pier - 伊達邵碼頭
7. Watch the sun set from the Shuishe Warf - 日月潭水社碼頭



The cycle route can be completed within 3 and a half hours at a leisure pace if you don’t stop. We would however recommend that you make the most of it and put a day aside to cycle around the lake and stop at all these interesting places. There are also a lot of other beautiful stops around Sun Moon lake that we didn’t mention.
