Founded in 1940 and currently in its 75th year, The National Federation of the Blind is the oldest and largest organization led by blind people in the United States – and it knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day the NFB raises the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and their dreams. One of the NFB’s core beliefs is that you can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back. It works to promulgate its philosophy by educating and recruiting new members, working to educate the general public, and interacting with legislators and policy makers at the local, state, and national levels – and with an estimated 50,000 active members, The National Federation of the Blind is most definitely on an upward track in it’s mission, too.

I had the pleasure of being invited to speak, present, and film at this year’s National Federation of the Blind’s annual Arkansas state convention in Conway this year. Over the course of the day that I was able to spend there I was able to meet many great people (both blind and sighted), enjoy several great educational and motivational presentations, and collect a lot of great footage from which this brief video has been produced – and now it’s my pleasure to share both it and The National Federation of the Blind with you. The membership of the NFB is simply incredible and filled with some of the most enjoyable and motivational people that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, spending time with, and getting to know…and I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that you WILL enjoy watching this video
