In this exciting DIY video, I'll show you step-by-step how to perfectly match the paint on a Harley Davidson FXR paint job! If you're looking to prep an aftermarket three-quarter style fairing, this tutorial will guide you through the process.

First, I'll start by scuffing down the fairing surface using 600 grit sandpaper, ensuring a smooth base for painting. Then, I'll clean the surface using a water-based cleaner to remove any debris.

To ensure paint adhesion on the plastic fairing, I'll apply a plastic adhesion promoter. This important step guarantees that the paint will stick perfectly to the plastic.

Next, a black basecoat will be carefully applied and left to dry. This will serve as the background for our paint job.

Once the black basecoat is dry, the fun begins! I will airbrush white paint onto the fairing where the pinstripes will be placed. Using LiME LiNE 1/8 inch and 1/16 inch tape, I will carefully tape over the white basecoat. The fairing will then be placed back into the booth and another layer of black basecoat will be sprayed to cover any white overspray.

After removing the tape, you'll be left with two crisp white pinstripes. To create a stunning two-tone effect, we need to mask off the side panels of the fairing and spray on 3 to 4 coats of lime line silver metallic basecoat. Once that's applied, the masking paper will be removed, and an additional coat will be sprayed onto the black basecoat on the sides.

To add the final touch of brilliance, we'll apply 3 to 4 coats of LiME LiNE red candy over the entire fairing. This will give it a vibrant and eye-catching finish.

To protect the paint and give it that professional gloss, we'll spray four coats of lime line premium 2K clearcoat. This will ensure durability and longevity for your paint job.

Please note that not all stock paint jobs are the same, so this method may not work for all styles. Make sure to check out the Amazon link below for all the paint materials used in this video.
