Inspired by one of my favourite Creators, Kofuzi, I wanted to run a marathon with my camera in hand to share the experience and struggle of running this distance. I can confirm that it was a right old struggle! Running a sub-3 hour marathon was a goal I set myself for 2023, and I'm stoked to have achieved it. Will I be trying it again soon? Maybe not!

The Asics Gold Coast Marathon is definitely a course that runners race with their personal best front of mind, given that it's such a flat course and the fact that Winter on the Gold Coast has excellent running conditions! I ran the race in the Asics Nimbus 25 which were awesome. What wasn't awesome was my choice of socks - rookie error!

I ambitiously ran most of the race at a 4.10 per km pace which would have brought me in well under the 3 hours; that meant I was in front of the 3-hour pacing group for the entire race which was not the plan I had in mind! This made for a grim final 5km into a headwind. Having just about weathered that storm, I was very fortunate not to blow up and miss the mark.

2.59.30 was the final result and as you can see from the finish line chaos - it was too close for comfort!
