Went out a little bit east on the Northshore of Long Island, NY for opening day of blackfish. Some of you guys have been telling me to try more east and so I kept a close eye on the weather for opening day. I actually spent some time in the early hours even deeper but quickly learned how much stronger the currents are out there compared to the western and middle sound and I didn't feel comfortable anchoring. The interesting thing I found is the shallow boulders and bottom look very similar to the western sound but there just seems to be better life, faster water, more aggressive and larger fish, especially if you can find some tightly packed boulders that don't get a lot of fishing pressure.
