Historical research is sometimes more than just collecting and presenting factual information. Usually, historical research also focuses on specific individuals, social problems, the relationship between old and new events, to objects that may be involved.

In general, historical research methods are carried out with the aim of adding insight into what has happened in the past. The hope is that we can learn from past failures and successes, make predictions for the present and the future.
