A year or two ago we both made a quick and easy journal using some very bright green hand-dyed fabric, but messed things up and didn't like the way they worked (elastic binding on a spine that seemed to move around a bit) or the way they looked.
And so we turned them inside out and let ourselves just be silly and play and not worry about making something beautiful, but using up things we weren't particularly fond of to recreate them as our ugly journals.
This turned out to be a whole lot of fun and also quite surprising how well they came together and how much we liked them at the end. A lesson on how sometimes just letting go of expectations and diving in and just playing might work better!
