Welcome to our two-part series on how to paint with light! In this first part, we will show you how to set up your camera and equipment to get started with this fun and creative photographic technique. Part 2 is a behind the scenes of an actual session using these tools.
To get started with equipment, you will need a camera with manual controls, a tripod to keep your camera steady, and a light source LED. We will demonstrate how to use several light sources to create unique effects, and how to move the light source during exposure to create interesting patterns and shapes.
We recommend setting your camera to manual mode and selecting a shutter speed appropriate to allow enough time for painting with light. Set your aperture to 4.5 or higher for maximum sharpness. Adjust the ISO to achieve proper exposure.
In part two of this series, we will take you behind the scenes of a light painting photoshoot and show you how to create more complex compositions using multiple light sources and filters.
As with any new technique, expect to try different approaches and make lots of attempts before you get the desired results. But don't worry, that's all part of the fun and learning process!
So get ready to have some fun and learn a new skill as we explore the world of painting with light!
