The flamboyant cuttlefish is the only know poisonous cuttle and only one out of 3 poisonous cephalopods. They don't live very long like other species and they are very rare to come across in the aquarium trade. Luckily a friend spotted these and tipped me off, so I got them. They're intelligence is similar to an octopus and their ability to color change is mesmerizing. They are absolutely stunning to watch. I purchased 2, but 1 inked in the bag and suffocated before I could transfer it into the tank. The other one made it so I took extra care to make sure it survived. I tried feeding it a variety of frozen food, nothing worked except for a live shrimp. I also fed uno her first live crab in a while and moved some octopuses around to make room for the cuttlefish. After some research I found out she was a female cuttlefish and very likely to lay eggs soon. Fingers crossed I will have an cuttlefish nursery soon.
