Galata Tower (Galata Kulesi) is a medieval stone tower located in the Galata district of Istanbul, Turkey. It was built by the Genoese in 1348 as a watchtower and a symbol of their colony. It is now a museum and an observation deck, offering a panoramic view of the city and the Bosphorus StraitAd
The tower is 66.9 meters tall and has nine stories. It has a conical roof that was reconstructed in the 1960s after being destroyed by a storm in 1875. The tower has a rich history and many legends associated with it, such as the story of Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi, who supposedly flew from the tower to the Asian side of the city using wings in 1638
