In this WVU football podcast, Couz brings on Alec Whitaker from ‪@whitakermedia26‬ to preview the upcoming college football game between the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Alec will provide a Penn State perspective on the upcoming contest and answer questions about injuries, the new offensive & defensive coordinators in Happy Valley, how PSU will replace first round NFL Draft pick Olu Fashanu at left tackle, the star running backs, and what questions need answered for James Franklin's squad. The guys will also talk about injuries, the Penn State schedule, recruiting and more.

Quarterback Drew Allar leads the Penn State Nittany Lions into Morgantown, West Virginia on August 31 to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers out of the Big 12 Conference. Allar will be flankered by two star running backs Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, who are set to have big seasons for the Nittany Lions.

Defensively, PSU is loaded at just about every position, but the most talented may be defensive end Abdul Carter. Carter is moving over after playing linebacker for former defensive coordinator Manny Diaz. Former Indiana Head Coach, Tom Allen, will be leading Carter and the PSU defense in 2024 after Diaz left to take the head job at Duke.

For West Virginia, they will be led by senior quarterback, Garrett Greene, who looks to not only make big plays in the pass game, but also do damage with his legs. The speedy quarterback will miss his All-American center, Zach Frazier, but WVU still returns a lot of experience and talent on their offensive line. They also have two good running backs in Jahiem White and C.J. Donaldson, who will look to control the game on the ground.

The Mountaineer defense will be led by veteran safety Aubrey Burks and defensive end Sean Martin. The Mountaineers will need to play much better on defense than they did in the 2023 game, when Allar carved up the Mountaineer secondary through the air. Can transfer cornerbacks Garnett Hollis (Northwestern) and Ayden Garnes (Duquesne) stop the Penn State passing attack?
