Weimar - the city of poets and thinkers, European capital of culture and the city in which the most important German art school of the 20th century was founded - the Bauhaus. The city of 65,000 (as of 2019) was named European Capital of Culture in 1999. Nowhere else is there so much culture to see in such a small area as in Weimar.

Many objects in Weimar have been awarded the UNESCO World Heritage title since 1998. This includes both the buildings in Weimar's old town and the extensive parks and their individual buildings, which represent the cultural epoch of Weimar Classicism in an exemplary manner. The majority of the objects recorded are owned by the Klassik Stiftung.

But Weimar is of great importance for Germany not only culturally, but also politically: On July 31, 1919, a national assembly was convened and the Weimar Republic was founded. This came into force on August 14th and was the first parliamentary-democratic constitution in Germany.
