Coach Kevin here with another helpful training tip. Today let's talk about whether you should use a lifting belt for exercises like deadlifts and squats.

The short answer - it depends. Belts are useful for bracing your core with heavy weights. But you still want to learn proper core bracing without a belt so you can maintain good form in everyday life.

Here's the key: brace your core by tightening your abs like someone is about to punch you in the gut. Keep that solid core throughout the movement. For moderate weights, this natural bracing is perfect.

But when you start lifting REALLY heavy, it’s time to think about using a belt. The belt gives you a physical reminder to keep your core tight. When lifting heavy, push your belly against the belt to brace even harder!

Make sure your belt fits snug but not too tight. You should be able to fit a few fingers between the strap and your body. Position it around your belly button.

My advice: learn to lift moderate weights without a belt first. Then add one in when you've progressed to doing heavy sets of 3-5 reps or less. A good belt like the awesome designs from 2Pood can take your heavy lifts to the next level!

So get out there and start deadlifting your way to a strong, healthy backside 🏋️‍♀️ Let me know if you have any other questions in the comments! And don't forget to smash that Like button!
