-back with another woodcarving tutorial on carving a Santa. This time we are talking about carving the beard and creating flow and texture with just a few tools. This Santa is a fun carve to do to give as a gift, or just to work on carving your facial features. I started out with a 2"x2"x4" block and cut it on the diagonal. You can really adjust the block to make it any size you want to make it. Today I used an Ortel soft V and a a deep swiss made gouge, a micro gouge, and a knife I made.
