If you have a hot tub, purging and changing your water is something that you should do once a year depending on usage. I strongly suggest starting this early in the day if possible.

NOTE: I originally said 2 years could be okay too, but after getting more info, that is probably too long. Best idea is maybe every 6 months, to a year. However the steps in the video do remain the same, so that should be all good.

The purging process is what helps clear a lot of biofilms and such that may have accumulated in your water and or piping.I will be using the Ahh-Some purging gel. Even if you have good water chemistry, this can still happen overtime. It should last at last a half hour. The purging also helps with the longevity of your piping, pumps, and heater. Purging should be done with all pumps running, on their highest speeds if your pumps have multiple speeds, and all air valves open.

Afterwards, clean off all visible biofilms and such from the purge. This step can take time, but just be patient, and you will get it off.

When you drain, make sure the hot tub is completely off. DO NOT rely on the control panel for this. Use either the hot tub's circuit breaker, or disconnect panel if it has one. A submersible pump is recommended for this step, as it will be much faster than using the regular drain. Keep the air valves open so that air can enter and allow as much water as possible to empty out of the piping. A shop vac is a very handy tool to have here as it can be used to remove water and debris that has settled in the low areas after it has drained.

Then just do a general cleaning of the hot tub's interior with a mild cleaner and some rags or shop towels. Then rinse it off with a hose and nozzle, remove any remaining standing water, and you are all set to refill! You can reconnect power AFTER the hot tub has all refilled. How long it will take varies greatly. It depends on things such as water pressure, and hot tub capacity.
