I Review the new 3L Hurricane High Output (HO) twin turbo charged inline-6 engine and discuss whether or not it should replace the longstanding 6.4L Hemi as a heavy duty mechanic. I discuss power specs, fuel economy, internal working and strengh of the engine and make an educated guess that the Hurricane 3L engine WILL NOT be put into the ram 2500 HD pick up trucks because it is not strong enough.

I hope everyone is doing well. this was a video I thought I would not have to make but I was surprised by how many people suggested that the 3L hurricane engines were in fact going to replace the 6.4L hemi engines in the Ram 2500 HD trucks. and in my opinion there is a 0% chance that is going to happen.

two weeks ago we discuss the possibility of a Cummins gas engine going in the ram HD trucks and there this is a legit possibility but I felt like I needed to adress the Hurricane engines seeing so many folks thought they were going in the HD ram trucks.

So first of all the 3L hurricane engines have been around now for almost 4 years and there is literally no evidence ram is testing them in their HD trucks.

secondly is that the HO engine will need to use premium fuel. and I can't see ram forcing their HD truck owners who own fleets or construction company owners being happy to put premium fuel in their work trucks.

Thirdly, the 3L hurricane does not come with dip stick which in my opinion is bad idea for an HD engine meant for towing which naturally burns more oil.

lastly and this big one is that this 3L engine is not a commerical grade engine it is built and designed to be light weight, fuel efficient and produce a ton of power. not built with strength and rigidity in mind. which is completely opposite to the gas cummins engine I talked about previously. this 3L hurricane HO engine is not meant for and HD application and will most certainly have shortened life span if put into the workload and duty cycles of an HD truck.
