CMU Moves up to No 201 – 250 in the THE Asia University Rankings 2024

This year, CMU has made a remarkable improvement in the Times Higher Education Rankings, commonly known as the (THE) Asia University Rankings by moving up from a ranking between No 351 – 400 to a ranking between 201 – 250, marking a remarkable comeback to the top 300, a goal that has now been realized.

The 2024 edition of the ranking, which were announced on April 30, 2024, featured 739 participating institutions in 31 Asian countries.

This year’s top five ranking institutions are: 1. Tsinghua University, 2. Peking University, 3. The National University of Singapore, 4. Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and 5. The University of Tokyo. As for Thai universities, 19, out of 27 participating institutions, have been ranked and 8 saw an improvement in ranking, including CMU. Its jump from last year’s ranking of 315 – 400 to this year’s ranking of 201 – 250 marks a return to the top 300, the first in four years. Some of the notable results are as follows.

It also features the following major adjustments.
• Citations (30%) has been renamed to Research Quality (30%), and from the previous calculation based on field-weighted citation impact, the performance indicators have been adjusted/added as follows: Citation impact (7.5%) Research strength (7.5%) Research excellence (7.5%) and Research influence (7.5%).
• Industry Income (2.5%) has been renamed to Industry (10%), and the performance indicators have been adjusted/added as follows: Industry income (5%) and Patents (5%).
