One of the things to know about the world's Blue Zones, such as those in Italy, Greece, and Japan, is that they have garnered the attention of many throughout the years. Questions like, "How do people in Blue Zones live a long and healthy life?" pique the interests of those seeking to better themselves and prolong their lifespan.

There are a number of Blue Zones around the world, although they're quite rare. However, a recent study by WalletHub has shown that the need to relocate to the remote islands of the Mediterranean and the villages of the Japanese mountains is not needed, for there are some US states set to become Blue Zones (some of which are already American states with the highest life expectancy).

WalletHub compared the retirement-friendliness of the 50 US states across three dimensions: Affordability, Quality of Life, and Health Care, using 46 metrics with corresponding weights. For Health Care, named metrics included the availability of Family Medicine Physicians, Dentists, Nurses, and Home Health Aides per capita, as well as the Share of Geriatricians, Top-Rated Geriatrics Hospitals, and Quality of Public Hospitals.

Other factors WalletHub's study considered were the Well-Being Index for the population aged 55 and older, the share of the population aged 65 and older with good or better health, and with poor mental health or a disability.

Physical activity, obesity rates, and sleep quality were also assessed. Life expectancy and death rates for the population aged 65 and older were also taken into account. Based on WalletHub's findings, these may just be the best states to retire with good healthcare.
