Today I show you some 3d printed tools i'm going to use from now on when doing my sand casting projects. A longer (8") tapered sprue former, and a surge trap. These are intended to be used with 1/4" OD copper pipe for the runners. This allows a smooth flow of metal without changes in diameter, reduced turbulence, etc... This can reduce turbulence, porosity, ugly castings, etc... Nothing worse than ugly castings. Well, lots of things are worse, but i'm too tired to figure out one to say as a joke. Seriously it's 1 AM. I should sleep. Maybe next week.
