Jadrolinija's "new" ferry Oliver on it's maiden voyage to Vela Luka. While the ship is not a new wessile, it is a sizeable upgrade in capacity both in number of people and cars. What makes this ferry famous in Croatia is the name, Oliver. Named after the incredibly famous deceased musician Oliver Dragojević, this ship became famous after it's original intended Jadrolinija name "Vela Luka" was changed to Oliver. Vela Luka on the island of Korčula, is the birthplace of Oliver Dragojević, hence the overwhelming symbolism with the name of the ship and it's route. Even the interior of the ship is Oliver Dragojević themed, with a number of walls covered with the lyrics of his songs, even the bar tables.
Jadrolinija ferry Oliver was built in 1997 by USUKI SHIPBUILDING - USUKI, JAPAN as FERRY TSURUGI for NANKAI FERRY - WAKAYAMA, JAPAN. After it was known as HERMES by KERKYRA SEAWAYS, GREECE. With a length of 108 meters and breadth of 17 meters.
