Sri Lanka is a country with a section of people who have worked closely with elephants since ancient times

And they have used elephants to make their daily life easier

So they had to domesticate elephants

To make the task easier, they have categorized the elephants

The appearance, color and size of elephants have been used for this purpose
For memorizing and documenting
Art is also used in this classification

Accordingly, this category is named as caste
Gathas, Shlokas and Poems are used and they are colored

However, this has no scientific basis
This caste classification can be seen only in Sri Lanka

But in other countries where elephants are closely related, elephants have been classified in this way
They also have no scientific basis

අලි ඇතුන් ගේ බාහිර පෙනුම, මෙන්ම පැහැයද ප්‍රමානයද මේ සඳහා උපයොගී කරගෙන ඇති අතර
මතක තබා ගැනීම සහ ලේඛන ගත කිරීම සඳහා
මෙම වර්ගීකරණයට කලාවද යොදාගෙන ඇත

ඒ අනුව මෙම වර්ගීකරගය කුල වශයෙන් නම් කර
ගාථා, ශ්ලෝක සහ කවි යොදා ගෙන ඒවා වර්ණවත් කර ඇත

කෙසේ වුවද මේවට විද්‍යාත්මක පදනමක් නොමැති අතර
ශ්‍රී ලංකාව තුළ පමණක් මෙම කුල වර්ගීකරණය දැකගත හැකිය

නමුත් අලි ඇතුන් ඉතාම සමීපයෙන් ආස්‍රය කරන අනෙකුත් රටවලද මේ ආකාරයට අලි ඇතුන් වර්ගීකරණයට ලක් කර ඇත
