30 years ago, the Dyke March began in Washington, DC, with a march from Dupont Circle to the White House, culminating in a fire eating ceremony by the Lesbian Avengers, a direct action organization.

On June 16, 2023, The DC Dyke March followed the original route in reverse, ending with a fire eating ceremony at Dupont Circle in homage to the original organizers. This year’s march was organized to emphasize transgender rights, as hundreds of bills enter legislation that threaten gender affirmative care.
