Mattakkara, is a place known as the biggest ‘Kara’ or land in Kottayam district of Kerala, India. It is believed that Mattakkara got its name in the regional language malayalam, where ‘Mattam’ means ‘Plane land’ and ‘Kkara’ means 'the area on the banks of the river'.
