This is how people are getting to 3800 on ps4 in the timed hunt. It's simple, as soon as the quest says complete, you leave the area. You might even be able to do this on foot if you get the last enemy to follow you.
I found this out on accident on the cactuar part, I had previously done if on the coerl part but didn't really notice the points being added.
