This has become an expensive slice of vinyl to own on 7". Not in the same ball park as many Northern Soul 45's but still, if you can't afford the price tag, look no further than this restoration of the original edit.

This 45 was pressed in small quantities for jukebox promo only but to make matters worse, Greg told me once that most were destroyed. It's collectable as an artefact for sure, but if you're not bothered about the collectability, it's basically the same as the 12" but cut short with an un-sanctimonious fade-out.

Most of the early electro and rap music we heard originated from New York (not that we always knew this at the time!), but then the grooves started to arrive from the West Coast possibly spurned on by the success of the movie Breakin' which featured scenes from LA's Radiotron. Egypt, Egypt stood out as being very different to New York material at the time. Dark and very weird! We think it has stood the test of time and so has The Egyptian Lover himself who is still putting out dope records inspired by his obsession with the 808 drum machine.

Our "Egypt, Egypt" restoration has been sourced from a copy of the 7" promo and from the extended version on The Egyptian Lover's debut EP that came out on his own Freak Beat Records label in 1984.

We are collectors and fans of Hip Hop music. Our intention is to restore analogue soundscapes for a future audience. We call this a headphone version because we think it sounds good up close and personal.

Thanks for listening.
