Shri Gokul Chandra Das displays and explains his innovation, a Dhak with a tin body and synthetic skin which is easier for the women to play because of its lighter weight compared to the traditional wooden instrument. Of course, there is a difference in the tonal quality of the sound. But nevertheless, it has benefited the women a lot, especially when they need to perform for prolonged period of time, carrying it on their shoulders.
