In celebration of Underworld's Olympic debut (TODAY!), I'm uploading a series of some of the best Underworld live moments recorded to date.

The 2012 Opening Cermonies in London, with music directed and scored by Underworld, will be broadcast around the world today! The broadcast will start in just an hour on this side of the world, and I'm really looking forward to it. This doesn't mean this countdown is coming to an end though - I'm still only halfway through!

Today's moment is from one of the earliest recordings of any Underworld mk2 concert (fourth oldest I think), and features the single live performance of the excellent Thing In A Book. For those unaware, Thing In A Book is an excellent b-side from the 1994 single Dark & Long, found on a few vinyls and the rare APR002cd release. It's also known as "Second Hand", a shorter edit made for the first Cafe Del Mar, and "Man Loop", an alternate take released through UW's website. This live performance is my absolute favorite version of the track, stocked with psychedelic sounds and loads of great live improvisations.

Please download the entire show here, it's amazing:

The entire show is 2.5 hours long, and features performances of tracks almost never played live (Burts, Spoon Deep) and alternate early versions of classics such as Juanita, Rowla, and Born Slippy.

Enjoy the Olympics everyone!
