‪@GreenKnoll2024‬ production: Neil Leslie Diamond (born January 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. He has sold more than 130 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time. "Shilo" is a beloved classic and to some, the greatest of all of Neil's compositions because it stirs up deep memories of childhood. It is about a childhood imaginary friend:
Shilo, when I was young —
I used to call your name
When no one else would come,
Shilo, you always came
And we'd play ........
The song was Diamond's most autobiographical up to that point in his early career, making reference to his lonely childhood amid turmoil. While the song was not a major commercial success, in large part due to short-sighted studio execs who did not believe in it, it quickly became a fan favorite and played at his concerts. Over the years, many fans have wondered about the identity of Shilo. In our interpretation, Shilo is a young girl who was there in Neil's life when he needed a friend.
