Gloucester Township Police: Captain Jason Gittens Last Radio Call June 1, 2023

Effective June 1, 2023, Captain Jason Gittens retired from the Gloucester Township Police Department after 26 years and 6 months of honorable service as a full time Gloucester Township Police Officer.

Captain Gittens was hired as a Gloucester Township Police Officer on January 27, 1997. Captain Gittens served as a Patrol Officer, and Patrol Shift Investigator. He was appointed as a Detective on July 15, 2002, and served in the Juvenile Unit, and the Narcotics Unit. On April 1, 2004, he was promoted to Sergeant of Police and was assigned as a Deputy Platoon Commander. On October 25, 2010, he was promoted to Lieutenant of Police and was assigned as a Patrol Platoon Commander, Traffics Services Bureau Commander, Investigations Bureau Commander, and Community Relations Bureau Commander. He was appointed to the Special Response Team on January 24, 2002, and was the SRT Team Commander from October 2, 2010 until March 21, 2016. On December 6, 2021, he was promoted to Captain of Police, where he served as the Community Services Division Commander until his retirement.
