Artist, filmmaker, and producer Andrew Warhola Jr., or simply Andy Warhol, was a founding father of the pop art movement. The connection between creative expression, commercialism, and celebrity culture in the 1960s is explored in his works. Campbell's Soup Cans (1962) and Marilyn Diptych (1962) are two examples of his silkscreen paintings, while the experimental films Empire (1964) and Chelsea Girls (1966) and the Exploding Plastic Inevitable multimedia events are also well-known.
