A wild coastline in a marine reserve with plenty of wildlife. Add a bit of downwind and it's perfect! The Kommetjie to Olifantsbos is a relatvely unpaddled downwind route in Cape Town, mostly because conditions can get really wild. It's mostly a remote coastline, with reef breaks all along the way, so any bit of swell makes it quite a dangerous paddle; so it's not done often.
The wildlife on this paddle did not dissapoint and I saw possibly the biggest sunfish I've ever seen. It was almost the size of a small boat!
A fantastic downwind with my brother, Heath Clarke, Iwo and Jess in a double! And my super second mom, with hot chocolate at the end!
Plus we caught a few waves at the end!
