Very proud of this project and the work that it took to complete.
Back in September of 2023, I watched the livestream (and recordings) of the British Open on the World of Brass website. I watched all 18 championship class bands play their test piece, "Sand and Stars" by Thierry Deleruyelle. I was in awe of every band's technical ability and sense of musicality. I was also inspired by the amazing solo players in every section. I started following the social media sites of as many of the British Open euphonium players that I could find. One of the most inspiring players I found was Mark Glover, solo euphonium for the Grimethorpe Colliery Band. His musicianship and sound stood out to me as I studied each and every solo euphonium player tackle the massive cadenza in the middle of the piece. He wrote a detailed blog post about his experience and preparations for the 2023 British Open.

This post is what inspired me to obtain the euphonium part for the 2024 North American Brass Band Championships, "Other Lives" by Oliver Waespi. While the brass band I play in (Iowa Brass) is not competing in 2024 NABBA Championships, I wanted to give myself the goal of learning the test piece and recording this amazing work.
