I started life in hand-me-downs,
Shoes that fit my mother’s dreams.
Little feet in worn-out leather,
Tied up tight with silent seams.
In my teens, I chose rebellion,
Picked out kicks that matched my flair.
But the laces strangled freedom,
A fit that never felt quite fair.

Years went by in borrowed pairs,
Trying on what others shared.
Each step I took, another tear,
Till my soles couldn’t take the wear.

But now I’m walking barefoot,
Feel the earth beneath my feet.
No more shoes to bind my spirit,
No more paths I must complete.
Through the grass and puddles splashing,
In the rain, I find my beat.
They never understood my journey,
So now I walk where my heart’s free.

Gave being an adult a fresh new try,
In shoes that promised polished grace.
But each step was a heavy sigh,
A masquerade with no true face.
Scuffed and torn, my soles grew weary,
Pressed on paths I didn't choose.

So here I stand with naked soles,
Embracing every thorn and hole.
Each step a testament, a call,
To leave behind what made me small.
I’ll dance in mud, I’ll climb the hill,
Free from shoes that fit the bill.
The world is new beneath my tread,
In freedom’s light, I’m boldly led.

Now I’m walking barefoot,
Feel the earth beneath my feet.
No more shoes to bind my spirit,
No more paths I must complete.
Through the grass and puddles splashing,
In the rain, I find my beat.
They never understood my journey,
So now I walk where my heart’s free.

Now I’m walking barefoot,
Feel the earth beneath my feet.
No more shoes to bind my spirit,
No more paths I must complete.
Through the grass and puddles splashing,
In the rain, I find my beat.
They never understood my journey,
So now I walk where my heart’s free.

Barefoot in the morning dew,
I’m free to be, to feel, to view.
No more shoes, no more disguise,
Just a soul with open skies.
