In this video I demonstrate the effectiveness of my simple dust collection modification for a DeWalt 12" Compound Miter Saw. The Dust collection improvements can be made within 30 minutes and for under $10. This modification consists of a two-piece dust hood and conical shroud that better enclose the blade and allow shop-vac dust collection air flow to better collect the chips as they're generated. I also detail how I made the upgrade and show the drastic improvement in dust collection 90 degree cuts (which this modification is optimized for).The materials used in this project were:
1. Rubber Drawer Liner
2. Small rare earth magnets
3. Copper Wire
4. Utility knife
