Historical Backdrop:
Eighty years ago 156,000 Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy, beginning Operation Overlord, and the long awaited liberation of Europe from Nazi Occupation.

On the first day of the operation, known as D-Day, Supreme Comander of Allied forces General Dwight D. Eisenhower issued his Order of the Day to encourage Allied soldiers taking part in the D-day invasion. This video uses sections of his address.
