Lancaster, Kentucky, is the seat of Garrard County. It was named for Lancaster, Pennsylvania, but the reason why is unknown. It's either because one of the first settlers was from there or because it was laid out with a similar plan. Lancaster is three miles from the Dix River and not far from Herrington Lake, which makes up part of Garrard County's border.
