The path to DevOps has transformed the way teams learn, improve, collaborate, and operate infrastructure and applications. The DevOps practices themselves are not tied to a specific type of infrastructure, but the tools and operational habits have been shaped by life in the hyperscaler clouds.

With the rise of edge computing, where infrastructure consists of many locations and each location provides limited compute power, there is a rapidly growing need to extend the tooling and practices to make DevOps as efficient at the edge as it already is for centralised clouds.

In this presentation, I will share a set of observations on how edge computing impacts practices and tools around deploying and monitoring applications at scale across many locations. I will also demonstrate the Avassa platform to illustrate how to bridge the gap between teams with solid DevOps practices in the cloud, and the distributed edge.
