A new task is on the horizon! drum roll We're removing the cement render off the farmhouse facade. We've been wanting to do this for some time now and are excited to see what's underneath. Get ready for some thrilling discoveries and unexpected twists! Our curiosity soon gets rewarded as we discover that the window in the living room must have been bigger or even served as a door a long time ago. The natural stone, which we absolutely love, used to contour the window continues down, formerly hidden by the cement render! This is a nice surprise! As Philippe removes the render, he can feel the dampness on the stones, showing that the cement mixture traps water, inevitably causing moisture problems. So it's gotta go! Next discovery: the render goes downwards into the terrace and is proving difficult to remove. Since we weren't big fans of the terrace anyway, we decide it'll be better to break it down. The idea is nice, but the execution isn't great.

Remember the dump site we cleaned? Well, it's situated just next to a massive wall of brambles, so Philippe is clearing them partly to create a buffer zone where we can mow easily, preventing future bramble sprouts from spreading into the space where we sowed flowers. Bonus: this tunnel through the brambles is getting us closer to the red tractor we found in video 35, which will make it easier to access once we decide to pull it out of there.
