Chợ Lớn consists of the western half of District 5 as well as several adjoining neighborhoods in District 6 and District 11. The quarter has long been inhabited by Chinese people and is considered the largest Chinatown in the world by area. The Vietnamese name Chợ Lớn literally means "big" (lớn) "market" (chợ).It's busy and loud, and very interesting, if not a little overwhelming. There is the Binh Tay Market which sells some food and drink but mostly practical goods coffee cups and brooms. There are quite a few temples and a big fountain with a golden dragon. Again, if you're in the area I definitely suggest it.
