The car has a Coventry Climax engine. Coventry Climax were involved in F1 at the time and won the World Championship. The engine in the Lotus is a 1.1L very light-weight aluminium engine that puts out a surprising amount of power, considering it was originally designed for a Fire Truck water pump!
