Here again for Hunting & Fishing NZ’s “Tip of the Trip” you’ll have seen NZ Hunter Adventures Crew using the Spartan Javelin bipods a lot on the show over recent years, specifically the Pro Hunt (176 grams) and Pro Hunt Tac (215 grams).

Beyond their lightweight anodised aluminium and carbon fibre design, what they love about these bipods is their compactness and quickness into action. Using either their rifle adapter which replaces your top swivel stud, or the gunsmith adapter which you recess to sit flush in your rifle stock. Simply keep your bipod tucked away in your pack while you’re walking and when you do need it attach within an instant using Spartan’s magnetic attachment system. In addition to having adjustable legs, these bipods allow you to track moving animals, and cant the bipod to level your rifle on uneven ground.

Spartan also produces a range of tripods; the Ascent and Sentinel tripod can used across a multitude of applications, from shooting when you need extra height, when dealing with steep angles that you can’t reach comfortably, to using with your spotting scope and for super steady glassing with their binocular adapter.

Their tripods can even be turned into bipods, mono pods, and walking poles using their trekking pole handles. The beauty of these systems is the interchangeability, where carrying one of their tripods on your trips allows it to be your rock-solid shooting rest, your spotting scope and binocular glassing platform, all instantly compatible using their Davros heads.

They also make a number of clamps and accessories that are extremely useful in particular situations, from glassing and shooting off vehicles, windows and tree-stands, to phone holders for those tricky solo hero shots and steady timelapses.

The Spartan systems have certainly revolutionised lightweight shooting and hunting across the world, and they’re forever creating new designs that challenge your thinking about what equipment you need to carry with you on a trip.
