Hiked to the peak of Blood Mountain via the Byron Reece Trail. The summit is Georgia's highest point on the Appalachian Trail at 4,458 feet. At the top you will find gorgeous views of the North GA Mountains and on a clear day you can see the Atlanta skyline. You will also find one of the oldest shelters on the Appalachian Trail, built in the 1930's. The hike is 4.4 miles, out and back but steep (1,456 feet) and is rated hard by All Trails. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/ge...
If in the area, make sure you stop by Mountain Crossings, a really cool hiking store right on the Appalachian Trail at Neels Gap. https://www.mountaincrossings.com/Art...
