Air Force Pararescue Specialists — PJs — are the US military’s primary special operations rescue experts. The two years of training weeds out close to three of every four candidates, but those who make it are trained in scuba, free-fall parachuting, small team tactics, mountain and ocean rescue, and advanced battlefield medicine.
